Mr Casula has conducted clinical research for the last 30 years in particular researching in the fields of surgical innovation, robotics in surgery, keyhole cardiac surgery and surgery in elderly and frail.
Mr Casula is a reviewer for several scientific ‘peer-reviewed’ journals and has been on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer-Assisted Surgery.
Mr Casula has been the lead cardiac surgeon in the Training and Development working group of the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS) for several years and co-directed several annual training courses in robotic cardiac or surgeons in England, Italy and France.
